Although the Hyundai ix35 has been the only fuel cell sports utility vehicle on the market, it has seen increasing competition from Toyota and Honda‘s fuel cell models in the past few years. This is partly due to the fact that it is based on a former generation model. However, this is about to change. In a recent interview, Hyundai Motor UK Product PR Manager Robin Hayles, indicated that the car manufacturer would introduce a new fuel cell to the market by the end of the decade. Despite Hyundai's involvement with hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles, the firm has ruled out any investment in the hydrogen refuelling infrastructure the near future.
