The study provides an extensive and independent assessment of hydrogen that lays out where things stand now; the ways in which hydrogen can help to achieve a clean, secure and affordable energy future; and how to realise its potential.<\/p>\n<p>The IEA has identified four near-term opportunities to boost hydrogen on the path towards its clean, widespread use. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>making industrial ports the nerve centres for scaling up the use of clean hydrogen<\/li>\n<li>building on existing infrastructure, such as millions of kilometres of natural gas<br \/>\npipelines<\/li>\n<li>the expansion of hydrogen in transport through fleets, freight and corridors<\/li>\n<li>launching the hydrogen trade\u2019s first international shipping routes, taking into account best practices from LNG<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important for governments to formalise longterm\u00a0 hydrogen and fuel cell policy and support first adopters of the technology.
