Happy International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, October 8! Icelandic New Energy loves this day – even though every day is a hydrogen day in one way or another. In fact, INE has the most extensive experience working with hydrogen and fuel cells in Iceland – since 1999!

Iceland hydrogen station 2003

Icelandic New Energy, Nora and Blámi held a joint webinar on zero-emission aquaculture service boats on December 14.

Coming up on November 12 2021, Everfuel will officially open a dual-function hydrogen refueling station in Copenhagen! 🚕

All approvals for the high-capacity station in Copenhagen are now secured, so in a few days’ time customers can start using the station at Prags Boulevard.

The station has been in operation the past few weeks, through a soft opening, where the station mainly has served taxis in Copenhagen.

The station will dispense hydrogen produced from energy from a Danish windmill outside Brande, and from 2022, will also dispense hydrogen locally produced at the H2RES at Avedøre Holme 💨.

“We are pleased to be in operation, and have been looking forward to accommodating the growing fleet of hydrogen taxis in Copenhagen”, Jeppe Hjuler Mikkelsen, COO at Everfuel said.

The station is funded by The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking through the project Hydrogen Mobility Europe.

The transition from fossil fuels to zero-emission fuels in the marine sector is a challenging task. Whilst onshore development of renewable energy sources and full electrification of the energy sector is taking place, other solutions have to be developed for the marine sector. Electric boats and ferries are being developed, but for more extensive activities we are looking at hydrogen-based fuels – pressurized hydrogen, cryogenic hydrogen or ammonia. The Faroe Islands are electrically isolated – i.e. no power connections to neighbouring countries. With increasing amounts of intermittent renewable energy sources, especially wind energy, solutions must be found to store energy and stabilize the power system. By production of green hydrogen from surplus wind energy, the electrolyser, in addition to producing hydrogen, can also deliver system services to the powergrid.   Register for the event   Agenda (BST)

This year’s H2 Value Chain Digital Event will be more than just another webinar, as it will present a major influence from the industry towards the government in regards of policy making – “Hydrogen Roadmap”. Four of the most promising projects in the Nordics, representing potential game-changers for the hydrogen industry will be presented and a Nordic H2 Launcher will be introduced to accelerate new businesses.

Join this online seminar to understand how the Nordic hydrogen industry can further drive innovation and stimulate market growth. Click here for details and registration.

Daimler Truck AG, IVECO, OMV, Shell and the Volvo Group recently committed to collaborate to create favorable conditions for the mass-market roll-out of hydrogen trucks in Europe.

H2A participants believe that synchronized investments across the sector during the 2020s will create the conditions for the mass market roll-out of hydrogen fuelled heavy duty transportation which is required to meet the European ambition of net zero emissions by 2050.

Refer to Volvo Group’s press release for details.

HUGE Project EU will be hosting a webinar on November 27 on behalf of SEAFUEL Interreg Atlantic Area. The topic for discussion is From Demonstration to Regional Impact: Scaling Up Hydrogen Projects.

Four speakers will each provide insight into the necessary efforts to reduce the costs associated with hydrogen and its related applications and discuss specific ongoing projects around Europe. Check the link for the full webinar agenda and registration!
